Straw provides a great covering to protect newly seeded grass. The straw shields the surface from the drying effects of the wind, and holds the soil heat in during the cool days of early spring, and keeps the soil cool during the hot days of summer
Shaking straw by hand is hard dirty work, and it is slow and inefficient. Using a Turbo Turf Straw Blower gets the job done 10 times faster and will provide the same results using 20% less straw.
Straw is a great addition, even over hydro seeding to provide additional protection for the new seeds and to hold the moisture better than hydroseeding alone. Although hydro seeding does well at protecting the moisture in the soil, straw is much better at keeping the soil cool in summer and warm in the early days of spring.
The Turbo Turf Straw Blower has 4 pair of hardened beater chains that will chop the straw into 4 inch lengths. This is an ideal size to provide maximum benefits from blown straw. When used in windy areas Turbo Turfs disc chopper can set the straw into the soil, or a Turbo Turf Hydro Seeding System can be used to tack the straw into place. The coverage when tacking straw is approximately double the coverage needed to hydroseed.
